[00:00:20] Hello and welcome back to the. Internet networks broadcast with our friends at Disruptive Live here at Digital Transformation live in Excel. So we had a little bit of time left over at the end of this hour, and we wanted to just kind of cover a bit of the kind of trends that we’ve been seeing. We’ve been to a number of events, including life and. More and more trends start to emerge that we’ve been aware of, just kind of. Dan, I know myself and you have been around quite a few events once, all our tours, a lot of our focus has been SD-Wan and software defined as Azure as a topic. Can a general feel from the different events, what kind of trends have you seen emerging?
[00:01:10] I guess it’s a good question. It’s a broad question. I guess it depends on the technology. If we start talking about AIX SD-Wan. Yeah.
[00:01:18] I think over.
[00:01:21] A number of years now, and it was very schatzi to begin with, but the players come from different areas and what we’re seeing this year is more of a normalisation, not just from a vendor perspective, but also just from a business perspective as well. I think that that’s become a bit more normalised now. So the. So we’re seeing a lot of people now that understand about the technology a bit more understand what it means to them. It’s not all meant everything to everyone, but they understand a little bit more about what what it can be for and something that’s one of the big things that standardisation and reflect to the supervisors. They came forward with the service. They’re providing it.
[00:02:03] It’s not just SD-Wan that’s important because, I mean, a lot of the analysts are saying that one of the enterprise buying sort of kind of triggers is the ability to offer a number of services at SD-Wan is ultimately one of the kind of services or suite of service providers have to offer nowadays. So for me, I think that the stabilisation of use cases is a is a sign of maturity. I think that the market is becoming more understood by the end enterprises is becoming more understood by the providers. And this year I’ve certainly seen a ramp up in in in in the uptake of SD-Wan enterprise. And I think that that will only continue. We’ve seen figures around companioned compound annual growth of 50, 60, 70 percent. We’ve got over the first two hurdles now where where do you think the next sort of the next sort of focus is going to be around?
[00:02:59] Yeah, I mean, we’re already talking about some of the new things that are coming out to over online where Bastiano SD-Wan or Nancy and I think one of the obvious ones is UCP. And you keep the ability to have one physical device by multiple functions on it for an enterprise, particularly small branches. I think it’s going to be great for them. Yeah, it means a lot more agile and so providers as well. So I think it’s a benefit both from a small to medium enterprise, but also a separate part of what it means is they can deliver services to market a lot quicker. And I have to do the whole truckload of tennants shop swapping out. And you’ve got one platform and then a plethora of services, you know, increasing as we go. So I think that’s probably the next sort of evolution of SD-Wan is to include as a function of a number of them, which can be string together to ultimately provide a solution.
[00:03:49] And that’s why I think I think it’s going I mean, what’s what’s your let me say, since you mentioned Ted there, because, I mean, one of the things I’ve picked up from and a number of the trade shows we’ve been to, the events we’ve been to is I still see two main camps for SD-Wan vendors. I mean, they’re the encouragingly they’re increasing move of most vendors is towards talking around quality of experience and what it means to a user and an outcome based services. But I’m still seeing a quite a few vendors who are looking at it as almost a kind of a virtual box. And they talk about speeds and feeds and defined features rather than what that means to someone. And I think quality experience is one of the biggest single benefits and actually one solution. Can deliver for enterprise, and it helps them to overcome application performance issues. It helps them to optimise how they kind of they plan their network and run.
[00:04:46] It made a good point about the outcome based services because they want to. Barcia I guess we’re talking about engagement now with the CIO. Yes, not necessarily with the techies. Now it’s about how can help their business transform. And that high level view, which is important, is a business that technology SD-Wan and you need it’s more business driven as opposed to, like you mentioned before, speeds and feeds that no one really cares is quality experience and.
[00:05:13] Where is the network used to be the responsibility of the IT department or the networking team if they had one? A lot more businesses now with digital transformation and the people who are here. And one of the main focus is just to try and work out how to build the network and those infrastructure pieces as more of an enabler for them as a business. So so, I mean, personally, I’ve seen a lot more line of business people involved in conversations now, whereas before it was purely a technical audience. You’re now getting sales, marketing and product people involved in and driving the requirements towards something like initiative and involvement because they can see how they can actually benefit from from the flexibility it gives them and and that differentiation that they want to try and bring to the market.
[00:05:59] Yeah, I mean, you said we’ve been on tour, as we call it, and it’s going to continue with our podcasts. And so based on the lives of covid over the last 18 months going forward, how are you? Are we are we using IoT, Axians from your perspective to help our customers to realise that?
[00:06:16] We got a number of things we’ve got we’ve got a programme for and for our customers to help them to on board services quicker and a lot of the new technologies that are coming out, such as human beings, software, they’re more agile, that a lot more fast paced is much more difficult to try and grasp. Get the concept, work out what it means to you, and then try and develop your own service in a timeframe that gives you the chance of actually hitting the beginning of an interest wave rather than hitting the back end of the way. So we’re hopefully helping our customers to move more agile into this sort of software arena for the whole network about ultimately, networking is now hitting where servers and storage were five, 10, 15 years ago, virtualisation properly making an impact. And it’s the exact same use cases for agility and flexibility and the ability to to flex and design your system and your customers. So increase their competitiveness, I guess, as well. It’s about trying to eke that extra bit out in front of your competitors. And we help our customers to take that next step and to put their heads a little bit ahead of the rest of the market if they haven’t got the skills or the skills to deliver it. And we help them do that as well. Again, that’s part of the programme. We can we can help. We don’t see ourselves as a tennis partner, so we help work out. We will play where they’re slightly weaker, where they’re stronger. We won’t play as much, but it’s about helping them. Is a complement this partnership to, in effect, bring us as as as full a kind of portfolio of services as humanly possible to market. But we’ve been on to we’re going to be staying on to this is only a kind of halfway summary. We will be doing many more of these in the future.
