NAYOKA OWARE [00:00:10] Hello and welcome to the London Tech Show By CloserStill Media. I am Nayoka Oware hosting for Disruptive Live. And today I’m joined by Luis Calado and he is the Business Development for SurveyMonkey. How are you doing, Luis?

LUIS CALADO [00:00:23] I’m doing great. How are you?

NAYOKA OWARE [00:00:24] Thank you for joining me. I’m well thank you. Tell us a bit more about what your job role entails.

LUIS CALADO [00:00:30] OK. So I’ve been with SurveyMonkey for actually with over nine years. I’ve done a lot of things. More recently, I’ve joined the solutions team focussed in our EMEA market. So yeah.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:00:45] Wonderful. What is SurveyMonkey?

LUIS CALADO [00:00:49] That’s a great question. So SurveyMonkey has been in business for over 20 years. It started as just a survey survey tool. It has evolved into a much more than that now. SurveyMonkey is basically a feedback solution that you kind of go for when you want to either collect customer feedback, employee feedback or do some market research. So it’s that we are the market leaders. I work there. Obviously, I’m going to say that. But it looks like we are and we’ve been in business for a very long time.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:01:24] Wonderful. I’m really curious about what SurveyMonkey’s mission is. Can you tell us more about that?

LUIS CALADO [00:01:30] Of course. Of course. So I’m glad it got you curious because that’s exactly how our name was picked initially. We wanted something that is curious and catchy. SurveyMonkey’s mission is to really power the curious and make sure that people are driving business outcomes and actions based on feedback. Right. We want people to gather data, understand their customer experience, their employee experience, but then take action, OK, improve their business, make better decisions. That’s that’s all we care about.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:02:01] Why did you decide to attend the London Tech Show today?

LUIS CALADO [00:02:05] Of course. So we wanted to be here because so we have never been here before. So for us, it’s the first time we wanted to see what what’s up with this this big expo? We heard great things about it. We wanted to actually show people around all the integrations we we we we have to offer now when we want to know, just talk with our customers, potential customers, current customers, just have a feel for what’s going on in London and see what people are about.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:02:35] As you mentioned, customers. That leads me right into the next question. Why do your customers care about the customer experience?

LUIS CALADO [00:02:42] Of course. So customer experience, it’s a it’s a it’s a big name, right? You hear customer experience everywhere. The feedback economy. If you don’t know about your customers, if you don’t know if they are happy or if they’re not happy, what are you going to do about it? How are you going to improve it or how you’re gonna get your next 100 customers? So it’s important to have numbers. It’s great that you know how much profit your businesses bring in. How many customers you’re bringing. But if you don’t know why those numbers are there, are they going up or down? You need to know the why behind it. And that’s exactly what SurveyMonkey helps you tell that story. The story behind the why and unveil whatever it is that it’s out there waiting for you to take action on.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:03:33] Social media, let’s talk about that a little bit. It’s a big part of our lives personally and professionally. When it comes to your customers, do you use social media to engage with them and maybe ask them questions about their customer experience?

LUIS CALADO [00:03:46] Yeah. So we have a great relationship with our customers. Generally, people, whenever they hear SurveyMonkey or online or offline, they’re generally it’s a good feeling about it. So it’s like oh SurveyMonkey almost like it’s a positive brand. We feel really good about our brand. We interact with our customers on social media. We have a very, very cool Instagram account. I definitely recommend you to check it out. We do some really, really cool quizzes. Yeah, we do all sorts of things and interactions. Yeah, it’s great.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:04:20] I’ll definitely check it out. I love a quiz.

LUIS CALADO [00:04:23] Perfect.

NAYOKA OWARE [00:04:24] Lastly, Louis, what makes SurveyMonkey unique?

LUIS CALADO [00:04:27] So what makes SurveyMonkey unique. Like I mentioned before, I joined SurveyMonkey almost 10 years ago, right. I felt very passionate about SurveyMonkey’s mission to power the curious. I felt like this is something this is something different. This is this is a big mission. This is this is something, you know, super interesting. I need to get on this train. What makes it unique? We’ve been in business for over 20 years. I actually the other day I read a study that was saying that for every year a company is in business, it’s it really increases the chances that they’re gonna stay in business for the five next years, you know? So we’ve been here for a long time. Our name is unique as well. SurveyMonkey. There’s no other company that’s called SurveyMonkey. But really, what what’s makes a stand apart is it’s super easy and it’s friendly people. It’s SurveyMonkey kind of changed the whole game in terms of making feedback accessible to everyone and making people have access to that data to then make make better decisions. Right. Drive business outcomes. Yeah and that’s, is that enough for you?
